L127 – The management of asbestos in non-domestic premises L143 – Work with materials containing asbestos
The proposals are to consolidate these two ACOPs into a single revised ACOP (L143) to be published by end-2013. It is proposed that L143 is retained and revised to make it clearer what dutyholders can do to comply with legal requirements and to reflect the recent introduction of The Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012.
Areas of change proposed are:
It is proposed that L127 on "duty to manage" is withdrawn and the material it contains is simplified and incorporated within L143.
These changes will bring all ACOP material in relation to working with asbestos together in one document. In addition, clarifying and simplifying the advice provided will make them more useable and understandable to better enable business to meet their legal obligations.
